In David I Trust

Unfortunately, my Avs lost to Detroit today 4-3. My boys from Denver played amazingly despite losing, and many are now talking that they are a serious Cup contender(especially after that 8 game winning streak that ended this week!). They are probably saying this for one special reason: David "I-am-a-badass-in-the-net" Aebischer. This guy has been absolutely brilliant since coming off the DL earlier this season.

If you did not see the game, I suggest you turn to ESPNews right now, or maybe check NHL.com or ESPN.com for highlights of the game. Abby made this one outrageous save, but it was really THREE saves in one. I can barely describe it. Aebischer was somehow pulled to the right side of the net and lost his stick...the puck flew to the left face-off circle...a Red Wing launched the puck as soon as it hit the center of the circle, and David DOVE from the right side of the crease and blocks the puck...the puck flies out to center ice, and another Red Wing blasts it from there, and Abs makes ANOTHER reaction save with his left pad...and the puck flies out again to the left face-off circle, and yet again a Detroit player just WAYLAYS the puck towards the upper 90 of the goal, an almost impossible area to block...Aebischer flips his ENTIRE body around, throwing his legs into the air, deflecting the puck at point blank into the stands. TRULY remarkable.

St. Patrick made an eerily similar play a few years ago in the playoffs against San Jose. BOOM BOOM BOOM. Three saves in a row. Unbelievable.

One week until hockey starts in Starkville :)
