I....Hate........Rain

Well I am officially "settled in" to the apartment. Nothing really exciting today, as it rained for hours and hours on end. The forecast for the next 3 days: rain. WTF! I wanna get outside, kick the ball around, maybe even go to the Tupelo disc golf course. ANYTHING but just sit here. Thankfully, I have just set up all my video gaming consoles, and we're good to go in the gaming department...that should the ease the pain of the rainy days.

Got some bad news today: Chris, who had signed up to be in my classes this summer, has wussied out of summer school. Com' on man!!! Now I have no one to pass the time with in class. Thankfully, I just checked my two teachers for this 5 week term, and according to msuteachers.com, they are some of the most fun teachers on campus. Sa-weet!! Now I'm actually looking forward to class tomorrow.

After Chris bailed, that leaves only about 3 friends left here this summer: Bell, Aaron, and Amber(trevor's lady friend). Bell is cool, though. I've known him since he lived in trev's apartment. I've been friends with Aaron since freshman year 1st semester. I don't know Amber that well, but I'm gradually changing that. She's Trevor's girl, so I feel it is my duty while he is gone to watch over her and make sure she is OK. I'd swear that she likes exactly EVERYTHING that trevor likes. Hell, they both played alto sax in band....weeeiirrd.

Sox won tonight. Only 3 games back from Baltimore. Yanks lost as well(and there was much rejoicing).

I do have class tomorrow, but they start at 1000, so I'm not to worried about getting enough sleep. I wake up about 900 every morning anyways. With that though, I will say good night!

-The Hammer

p.s. I promised a picture, so here you go. This is the latest addition to the animal house that IS the Horne home. His name is Thurman, and he's a rough and ragged outdoor cat, yet his coat and fur always seem to be smooth and soft. How DOES he do it?!

Okay...can you spot the hiding cat?

Viva Starkvegas

Woo hoo! Back in Starkville! This town never sleeps! Tons of people and tons of things to do!!....(note sarcasm)

Yeh, no one is here. Trevor leaves today, and school starts wednesday. I'm sure I'll have a blast with Art Appreciation and Public Speaking(more sarcasm). Oh well...I'm in Dan's apartment, and it's very roomy. I still have to unpack most things, but I have plenty of time to do it. My one-month workout routine begins tonight, in about 15 minutes :)

Right now, I am creating what many will call the "greatest movie theme song compilation cd ever made." I'm including the theme songs from a wide range of movies, from Star Wars and Robin Hood to 2001 and Jurassic Park. It's no surprise that John Williams is the composer for most of these songs.

Well I'm off to unpack, workout, eat, etc. I promise to include some pictures next post.

Headin' Out

Well I'm headed to Starkville tomorrow. Trevor actually is gonna stay a day or two later, so he'll be there when I arrive. Sox owned the Yanks(again) tonight, and they are on tv tomorrow night as well. I figure we'll either order pizza or watch the game at one of the restaurants. I really don't have that much stuff to transport, considering Dan has left pretty much all of his things there; that's a relief. I have packed most of my clothes tonight, so i won't have much left to do tomorrow.

Dad is grilling his WORLD FAMOUS ribs and bbq chicken tomorrow for Memorial Day. Uhm, yeh, I will not leave until I have fully stuffed myself with allll that food.

Next time we talk, I will be back in good ole Starkvegas :)

Been Busy

well well well...what have I been up to the past few weeks?

Obviously, I am NOT in Houston anymore. I moved out of my apartment on May 19, and I headed up to Canton. On the 20th, I drove some more on my way up to Paris to see HCHS's graduation. I may have found a lead on a place to stay this summer. Nick Stutzman, a good friend and fellow co-worker of mine during high school, is working all summer in Memphis. His parents offered to let me stay in his room while he is working. They have high speed internet, they have a pool, and the house is RIGHT in the middle of town. I'm seriously considering it :)

After graduation, I returned to Canton. I have done nothing but relax since getting here. I have played countless rounds of disc golf, become familiar with the ropes course here, and slept ALOT.

Monday I head back to Starkville. I'm kinda looking forward to it, while also not excited about it at all. First off, the majority of my boyz won't be there during the summer; that's gonna suck. This solitude, however, will allow me to work out quite a bit, fine tune my dart throwing, and hell, maybe actually *gasp* get a tan. Plus, there are some good video games out that I haven't had the chance to tackle yet, so there's something to do on the rainy days. Let's not forget the blockbuster movies coming out...those will keep me busy as well.

Trevor wants to come with me to Paris at some point this summer. We may go up right after exams, which is just around the time War of the World comes out. We'd like to round up the group and head to Nasvhille and watch the movie on a digital projector at the Hollywood 27 :). Plans are in the works...

I took mom on a date tonight to see Episode III. She thoroughly enjoyed, and I didn't mind seeing it again. I'm definitely looking forward to watching Episodes IV-VI now.

Mal ran/swam/biked a triathalon yesterday in Birmingham. I swear, that woman is the most in-shape person EVER. Not an ounce of fat on her anywhere. Looks like the pressure is on me to look good this summer, haha.

Sox rocked the Yanks today for 17 runs!!! We had 27 hits!!! That's what the Yanks get for pissing us off. Series finale tomorrow night on ESPN. I can't wait.

Well it's late. Expect regular updates here throughout my stay in Starkville. I'm out...latre!

Hoooold. Hoooolld.

my bad. I wasn't able to get pics of the "event" cuz we played TWO rounds of golf at the Center. I'm at Trevor's now, so I wont do a full update. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so expect an update then, haha. I will finally get you all up to date with what's going on...

Well I'm off to bed...Night!

I Have Returned

Yes. I am alive. Sorry for the long delay, but I have been busy traveling, packing, unpacking, and seeing my old friends. I have returned, and I have time to give you all updates on my latest adventures. My computer seems to be overheating while sitting on my bed right now, so I will update tomorrow with some awesome pictures. Trust me, you will want to see these. Indiana Jones I am not, but I'm damn close with what I have been doing today. What is it?!? Ahh...for that, you'll have to tune in tomorrow. Same bat time. Saaaame bat channel.

Peace!

50 Cent

Well I'm cleaning out my apartment in preparation for my glorious return to the state(s) I call home. In doing so, I ran across my "Henry File," which is basically a big black folder box where I have stored stuff since 4th grade. Anyways, I though I'd clean out the Henry File as well...Lo and behold, I came across my old business cards from my magic-performing days. Sorry if the pic is bad quality and it isn't cropped...I still dont have Photoshop back on my computer(remember, I'm STILL reinstalling stuff). Click on the pic for a larger/closer look. SO funny...

Back in my day, you could see a decent magic show for only 2 quarters!

Nashville...Chicago....AND Williamsburg

Well I have to head to work...again...today, but I'm not bothered. I only have THREE DAYS LEFT of work!! Woo hooo! I'm so ready to get back to MS/TN and relax. Seriously, you have no idea how much I'm ready to get back home. Just a few more days. I can make it...

Well last night was Henry County High School's Prom. I hope Lauren had a good time. She called me Friday night with alllll this high school drama that going on right before the prom. Haha, boy, do I know how THAT feels or what! I calmed her down and assured her everything would be OK, and since I didn't get a call last night, I assume it went smoothly...

Our numbers are growing for the Episode III trip to Nashville. Josh, Matt, and I are going to be at the helm...Jacob Wilson, Jacob Crouch, Richie K., Adam Jones, Adam Bell, and several others are going to give us an answer soon. This may turn out to be MUCH bigger than I planned! Oh well, the more the merrier, especially with that group of guys. We're definitely gonna need some walkie-talkies....hmm...

The other day, Dan mentioned to me that he and Adam Brown were going to Chicago to see the U.S. soccer team play England. The game is on the 28th, so I technically could make that. I'm very interested in going. The Cubs do have a few home games that weekend as well....Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not...

Well, I'm headed to the J. Latre!

More Like 33...

Well nevermind...I found out I have 7.0 vacation hours, so I'm gonna use those to make my week a little easier. So today I only worked 4, and tomorrow I'll work 3. That way, I'll be OK during the week. Now I can get a head start with disassembling my room...

I'm hoping to show a great demo of my sound system at work tonight...Berkley(a co-op who lives here in Seatree) said he liked my system ALOT the last time he was over here. He's coming over tonight to use my tv; I suggested he do so cuz he was playing a game on his tv that is waaaaaay to small for that game. I offered the services of my tv and sound system tonight, and he accepted. Hopefully he'll like my offer for the sound system. If he accepts, it saves me the trouble of selling it on ebay this summer. Don't think I'm selling my system to save room in my car(although it will do that). I've needed a new sound system for a loooonnng time. I am not going to use my system hardly at all this summer, so selling it right now wont hurt me. I plan on buying a new system this fall when I'm back down here.

Well, I'm gonna snooze for awhile...later!

40

Well, since I am leaving mid-week next week to make Lauren's graduation, I have to get 40 hours in somehow. The only logical way is to work 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday....or work 13.3 hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. HELL NO. I'll take the easier weekend work, so that's what I'm going to do this weekend. It sucks, but I mean, I might as well. It's my last week, and I do have some stuff to get together.

It is SO freakin lonely on the weekends at work. There is hardly anyone there on Saturdays and Sundays...it's even kinda creepy. It is as if I'm the only one there. Sooooooooooo....if anyone would like to give me a call today or tomorrow at work(my work phone is : 281-483-0254 ), and just wanna chat or something, PLEASE do! It would make the day go by much faster. Granted, I have lots of work to do, but it's just so hard when there is NO ONE else within 2,000 yards. So drop me a line today, anyone...I'm headed to work right now. I'll be home around 7(yuck) tonight...gotta start disassembling my electornics tonight :(

Off to work I go...

ASCAN Pic

Ok, I can't believe I haven't posted this one yet. This was taken from the ASCAN game a few weeks ago. The facial expression says it all: DETERMINATION. Click the pic for a closer look.

Ramblings

Well not a long post today, but I figured I'd update on a few things...

Jason invited me to play with the upper-tier Ultimate players that play on Tuesdays and Fridays...oh boy. Let's just say it was a humbling experience, as the rest of my tour this semester has been. I am definitely not that good as those guys. I really really need to practice this summer. On a lighter note, I did purchase a Discraft made Ultimate disc. This baby is blue and white, 175 grams, and it flies nice. It's what we played with today. I bought it from one of the guys there. I hope the guys I played Ultimate with in Paris last year are in town this summer...we're gonna have some good games.

To my surprise, my group at work is throwing me a going-away lunch this Monday. Yeh, I really didn't think that was necessary, considering that I'm just a co-op and all, but Macresia and everyone else insisted. Oh well, I will not complain. I'm really looking forward to it.

I have my exit interview next Wednesday, my last day of work. I gotta go and talk to my co-op administrator lady. She's super nice, so I'm not worried. After that interview, I'm good to go. CAN'T WAIT TO GET HOME. I'm ready to just relax by the pool, play some disc golf, and just hang out at the Gray Center for a week before school starts.

I called Richard Wright today and told him I couldn't do that tournament in Missouri. Had I just finished a school semester, and I was fully in hockey mode, I would say yes. I am just gonna be too exhausted from driving to Canton from Houston, Paris from Canton, Nashville from Paris, and Canton from Paris. I need this though...quality time at home.

Well with that, I'm out again.

KEVIN MILLAR: WALK-OFF HOMER IN THE 9TH AGAINST THE A's. Aww yeah. Cowboy Up!!!

"Three Down, One to Go!"

It seems that phrase was said maybe 38 times this weekend. Well I didn't mention this trip due to secrecy constraints, but I can divulge details now. I flew home late this past Friday night. I met my parents, went home, spent the night, and headed(with the rents) to Starkville, MS to see my bro graduate from college. He had NO IDEA that I was coming. Mom and dad dropped me off at my old dorm while they picked him up from his house. They came back to this reception being held at McCain Engineering Hall, and I came in at JUST the right time! John was TOTALLY surprised to see me, and his facial expression was priceless. He surprised me at my high school graduation, so I couldn't let him outdo me, right?

John graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering, and he did so MAGNA CUM LAUDE. Totally bad ass. Carolyn also graduated MAGNA. So there it is...the bar has been set. To maintain the Horne legacy, I am gonna have to score a SUMMA CUM LAUDE when I graduate. Now, getting Summa for graduation isn't some dream or something I've had for my whole life. The grade on my record is really not that important to me; if I know the material and understand it, I'm good to go. I'm gonna learn the same material and be just as enthusiastic about it during my undergraduate studies, but this is just something I'd like to do. I mean, com'on, setting a precedent in our family is quite an accomplishment, and the door is wide open for me to do so. These next few years will be quite interesting...Summa baby, all the way.

And yes, this weekend also coincided with Mother's Day. Here's a recap of all the gifts my mom got:

She got the 3rd Horne child off the family payroll...

Binoculars(to watch the animals around the center) from Dad...

Kitchen tools(these are just a few of them) from Dad as well...

A really really badass measuring glass from John...

And flowers + a card from yours truly :)

Needless to say, Mother's Day was a huge success this weekend. Not to leave them out, but Will and Carolyn both called to wish my mom a happy Mother's Day. Caro and Rich even made this badass cd for mom: all the songs on it contained the word "mother" or "mom" in the title. How awesome is that! I mean, really...very cool.

In other news...I am SO close to being done with work this semester. I'm bout ready for it too. I'm ready for the summer; I'm ready to hang with the boyz, play some serious Ultimate, "Mississippi State Style",(kudos if you know where that phrase is from), start soccer again, and go roller coasting in Virginia, Georgia, and possibly *GASP* Texas...ooooh, intriguing, yes? Early July my Sox are rolling back into Arlington, Texas. It just so happens that Six Flags Over Texas is right beside the field. Could it be ANY more convenient?!?

Speaking of summer...Richard Wright, the head of the SIHL, called me yesterday. The SIHL Wolves(our travel team) has been invited to this tournament in Missouri. Rich said he wanted me as the starting goalie for this excursion. HELL YEAH! I was SO pumped when he told me, but I told him I still had to think about it. I mean, I haven't touched a puck in almost 6 months. If I do decide to go, that means right after I get back from HCHS graduation, I have to pack my stuff for summer school, head to Starkville, and train for 4 straight days to get in the hockey mindset before the tourney. Eyugh. I'm gonna be so exhausted, especially considering I will have traveled a total of 1600 miles the 4 days before that. I DO want some time to relax before school starts. So I dunno yet. I'm still thinking about it. Rich needs an answer tomorrow, so I'll sleep on it.

Well with that, I'm out.

"She's fat, she's thin, she's fat, she's thin...I mean, com'on!"

Yeh, this is getting old. My computer has been revived........again. I know you're thinking you've heard this before, but trust me, it's alive. I've reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled Windows(booo), and I've put all the stuff I backed up back onto the computer. I'm still trying to get all the settings set up and stuff. I prolly wont have time tomorrow to post pics, but I'll try to post them as soon as possible. Some of the Arlington pics really turned out great, so you'll get to see them. I'm gonna watch some NCAA volleyball now. Night!

p.s. Bronson Arroyo is(dare I say it?)...en fuego. He had a no-hitter through 6 innings tonight. Sox won ANOTHER close one. ALWAYS good to rack up some road wins :)

p.p.s. Oh yeh, and if you can tell me where that quote above is from, I'll give you SERIOUS props.

this is an audio post - click to play

I Lied

Okay, Jason does have the right software...here are some pics from my sim today. I was SO exhausted after it was over. I left work right after it ended and got a good 3 hour nap...

This is my listening to ODIN for instructions on which malfunction we are gonna tackle next.

Here I am punching up the correct loop to send a command. Here is a typical command from today: "RAVEN on FMT Coord, executing Checkpoint Safing Response for the Backup GNC. On my mark. Three, two, one. Mark."

I am focused and listening closely to my frontroom counterpart.

Now THIS Is TIght

My computer may have been f*#@ed up, but I just read about audioblogging. VERY cool. From now on(at least until my comp gets fixed), if you see this funny looking audio icon where my post usually is, just click it. Then choose which program you want to use to play it. You will then here my post for the day, or maybe just a funny message. It's a great way for me to post when I am away from my comp, out of town, or my comp is broken, haha.

All I do is call this number, record my message, and post! How COOL is that!?

Unforunately I can't post pics through the phone :(

The Hard Drive Strikes Back

Well shit...

My comp has died...again. I found my installation disc, and I thought I'd try that since the bootup message now says it can't find a certain file. Tried it, but no joy. So I'm kinda back to square one. THANKFULLY, with the time my computer was kinda working, I was able to burn all my important stuff to some discs. That makes things not so serious. The DELL support lines were all busy, and I waited on hold for 20 minutes today. I'm gonna try later tonight.

I was RAVEN in the sim today. Al, Macresia, and Frank took some good pics of me, but I can't upload them on here :( cuz I am on Jason's comp; I don't wanna install software w/o his permission(he's gone to Bible Study). You'll just have to wait then...sorry :(.

Well, I'm watching the Sox game on ESPN. All tied up 3-3. Renteria just made a great relay to home for the out; he needs to start hitting some, though.

Don't know when I'll be able to post again...but just cross your fingers.

Return of the Co-Op

I have returned. By some miracle, my comp has come alive, fixed the error, and risen from the ashes. Sooo...expect LOTS OF UPDATES AND PICTURES SOON! :)
